Chet Atkins Appreciation Society - Nashville 2009

Although we planned to play together for about two months, we only managed to practice twice, and did not even see each other for two weeks before Nashville. Before going on stage we snuck out into the hallway to tune and run through our arrangements. Not my recommended way of proceeding! First we tuned up.

Next it was time for a run-through of the arrangements. I had written out a second guitar part for Markku's own solo arrangement of When I'm Sixty-Four, but we had never actually played through our arrangement of Penny Lane. It's a good thing Markku has nerves of steel, and great ears.
Markku took the stage first to do his solo set. He played really well and the audience loved him.
I joined Markku at the end to play When I'm Sixty-Four and Penny Lane. Randy Finney did a great job balancing our sound.
Don't we look serious as we play? We are actually having a blast! Both songs went flawlessly.
Here we have just finished playing , very pleased that it went so well. I think I look a little too surprised with the result!

I finished up by playing a solo set. It looks like I am just discovering that there are fingers on my left hand. Hmmmm.
